Google+ Privacy +1
Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 1:14PM I've been playing around with Google+, and overall am much impressed with its out-of-the-gate privacy approach. It includes:
- a comprehensible privacy guide,
- intuitive "Circles" for managing precisely who sees what you post, and, best of all,
- users must affirmatively "opt in" to settings that make more of their information more public. The default is "opt out." See screen shot below. E.g.: the default setting for "show geolocation information from photos..." is unchecked, and in order for users not in one's "Circles" to be able to tag you in a way that links to your profile, you must affirmatively approve. Also, default notifications are on for when other users "want to" or do tag you.

I also noticed the "reshare" issue, but have the feeling 1) finding things like this is what limited releases are for, and 2) it will be quickly remedied. Overall, much to like about Google+ on the privacy front.
